Let me first begin by making a confession- my gay husband sent me a few of these clips last week. Since I didn't know what the links were I ended up watching and finding out that they were of the final episode. I thought they were fake or made to throw of fans which is why I didn't say anything at all.....but sadly i was mistaken.
The 1st Hour: Looking Back
They almost cast alice as shane.....leisha hailey isn't shane at all lol i laughed at that
Jennifer beals is fantastic. She took a risk when she decided to do this show! I couldn't see anybody but her as Bette. I'm a bit bothered by the fact that her performance as Bette has NEVER been nominated fro an Emmy. She had such a strong and complex character and I just don't get it really.
Ozzie Davis who played her father should've gotten a nomination also, because while we didnt see that much of him- he was fantastic! How sad that his death coincided with the death of his character
I also think Dana could've gotten a nomination for her portrayl of a strong woman fighting breast cancer

people are still foamin at the mouth about dana including the cast members. I'm glad they it up and i agreed with shane on her comment on danas breast cance they shouldve been more realistic

i didnt know erin daniels was gay...I was hoping all of them would tell us who was gay and who wasn't. LOL it's been speculated for years as to who's bi, straight, or gay!

Well well well, Alice finally confronts Jamie and Tasha! What killed me about this was that Jamie tried to be Miss Innocent with that deer in headlights look...Jamie has been gunning for one of them since the beginning ! MY heart was breaking for ALice because while I wanted them to breakup, it should've been on Alice's terms, not because somebody wedged themselves between them. I believe that Alice loved her but was not IN love with Tasha. Thank god, she told Jamie off. Honor and duty? Did Tasha seroiusly say that to her?! She made Alice sound like an obligation or a burden....
Let's be real- Dylan told Helena she got kicked out because she WANTED Helena to ask her to move in! I side with Helena on this on: They JUST got back together and if she'd offered Dylan would've said YES!
Ummm, the whole S&M whipping out of the butcher knife during a sexual encounter- NOT COOL AT ALL

So let me get this straight: Dylan knew all along that they were 'testing' her? Why didn't she tell Helena from the get-go? Why did she even tell Jenny she knew it was her? I'm a bit on the fence on whether she should've told Jenny or Helena but what I do know is that Dylan was foolish to assume that some test was going to magically dissolve ALL trust issues they had. Helena has the right not to fully trust Dylan yet after what she did and Dylan not telling her just added on to it....
Bette being the housewife? That moment was pure comedy I think every viewer laughed out loud!!!
Oh god mollys haircut looks just like Dylan's! It's like a bowl cut but flipped (shudders)
Shane's face when Molly told her about the jacket and letter was pure rage! What was interesting was that Shane didn't say a word about how she didn't get it. I took it as Shane realizing what had slipped away unbeknownst to her and realizing that too much time had passed to get back together. You know the saying "sometimes it's better to leave somethings unsaid'
"Drinking my way through it" - Alice (Very profound and funny Alice. Don't we all find ourselves drinking or eating our way through a breakup! )
Best line ever from Max- (eveyone is asking where Jenny is) 'Maybe Shane threw a bucket of water on her and she melted ' SNAP!!!!!! I like Mean Max....too bad it happened in the last show...
Kit should've believed Bette her sister- PERIOD!
As for fashion:Bette looked FIERCE as usual, Tina=BLAH as least she wore a bright color, Alice's dress look 2 sizes too big, but Jenny's dress was adorable, Kit was wearing something that I think an ice skater could've worn had it been shorter...
Ahhh Jenny is rather observant! They do want you to shut the fuck up and go away...
Tibette's place looked great! Kinda hated that they had to fix it up just to move away...

Tasha showing up at the end was whack, she only showed up at the party to say bye to Tibette. I didn't buy it at all-acting like she came for Alice and that she loved her? Tasha had no intentions of reconciling with Alice, that's why she didn't chase Alice out of HIT or call her!
MY THOUGHTS:
I thought THE FINALE was very lackluster and fell short of anything meaningful! There was no ending and now they expect me to get on the web and watch the interrogation tapes?! Here's an idea how about a few more episodes and an actual ending! This show was never about mystery and yet the fans are left with a 'whodunnit' cliffhanger.....
I LOVED the first hour!It was very appropriate and felt like the closing of the show.....
Chaiken is going to get SO MUCH HATE MAiL LOL. HELLOOO?! Chaiken- I'm sure you make alot of money but I put alot less effort antime into SEVERAL theories that were infinitely betteR then the shitty non-ending you gave us. aND Don't think I didn't notice that you did the same thing as the Sopranos! It didn't WORK

ReplyDelete"Re-Crap" says it all! What a CRAPPY ending! We were right, MissIndependent, the finale left us hanging and disappointed. It's exactly like you said, The L Word was never about mystery and to leave it with so many loose ends and questions unanswered is wrong on so many levels. I've only seen one of the interrogation tapes (Tina's) and if you've seen it you'll know what I mean when I say: Wow, where did THAT come from??!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't feel like there is much to say about this finale. But even though I did not like the ending, I did enjoy getting to see the girls one last time-bittersweet really. I'm so happy that Bette and Tina ended in such a positive manner and I loved their scene together when Bette tells Tina she wants to marry her when they get to NY. I feel like 2 of my best friends have moved away now. lol! I'm I a total weirdo?? I thought the throwback scene of Shane walking past B&T on the porch the next morning was cute. I remember watching the pilot episode with the Chaiken and Jennifer Beals commentary and JB says that scene was one of her favs. I never thought I would say this, but I can somehow see a Bette and Tina role reversal. At first I laughed when Bette said that she might let Tina be the breadwinner and she would be the stay at home mom but then I thought, why not? I thought Bette was going to push Jenny right off of that oft-referenced bad railing. And she was going to look great doing it! I loved that black and white dress. I would have pissed my pants too if I were Jenny. LOL!
I can't believe how Tasha was upset at Alice for how she reacted to her obvious affection for Jamie. Tasha had no right to say, "F**k you!" to Alice when she said she doesn't close her eyes and imagine someone else when they have sex. Tasha knows that's exactly what she did! And the honor and duty thing was just too much! But true to form, Alice took it all in stride and with humor. Her lines about Jamie and Tasha having sex were so funny! I absolutely loved seeing Shane and Alice hang out again! But how could Shane NOT believe Alice about Jenny stealing her treatment?! After Shane saw Molly and found out about the jacket and the letter, there should have been a scene where Shane apologizes to Alice for not believing her. If Alice and Shane had had a batch of party brownies they both would have felt much better. :)
What is up with Dylan knowing the whole Nikki thing was a set up? Helena has every right to be suspicious of everything Dylan does from here on out. Oh wait a mintue, show's over. Maybe Helena should just suspect Dylan as the murderer. Might as well throw her into the suspect pot too.
Yes, Kit should have believed Bette, period! And yes, if her outfit had been a little shorter she would have been nailing triple axels.
I'm glad Sounder got to make a final appearance.

Jenny's reference to knowing that all her friends wanted her to go away makes me hope that she killed herself as a favor to them all. That sounded horrible, didn't it? But I would rather believe that she committed suicide than to think that one of the gang did it. But, if I had to choose who I thought did it based on what we were given in the final episode, I would say it was Bette. In that repeat showing of her interrogation interview she seemed very nervous and edgy. And she is the only one that had a big confrontation with Jenny in this episode. At first I thought there was no lead-in to "The Farm" but after reading some message board posts about what Alice mumbles to Tasha when they are embracing at the end, maybe there was a lead-in. If you go back and rewind that scene you can hear what sounds like Alice whispering in Tasha's ear, "I killed her." I don't know, too many questions and not enough answers for an ending to a show that had such a great run if you ask me.
I went back and watched the "Who Killed Jenny" promo that ran a lot before the beginning of this season just to see if there might have been a clue there that I missed. No clues found but I did pick up on something that shows how twisted Chaiken's view of Jenny was. In it she says that in many cases, through no fault of her own, Jenny incited rage among her friends. Are you kidding me??!! Everything Jenny did to her friends was pure calculated evil! I was shedding no tears over her death either. My sadness comes from knowing that this great show is over and Sunday nights will never be the same.
I'm glad that I watched the look back special last. It left me with the warm and fuzzy feeling that I want to remember the show with--not the crazy Jenny show that it became at the end. It was great to see how the actors really are close friends behind the scenes. JB and Laurel's nursing home bit was so funny! The footage of Leisha, Kate, Mia, Jennifer, and Rachel hanging out on set was heartwarming. JB saying she wouldn't completely say goodbye to Bette and that she might ask her to step forward during an argument made me laugh out loud. I'd take Bette on my side of an argument over the best defense attorney any day! It was great to see Erin Daniels again. But did I miss something? I didn't catch where she said she was gay.
So, I guess this is it.

p.s. MissIndependent, I'm still pondering what I would like to see on here. In all honesty, you do a great job with everything you post here. I liked the Post Secret postcards that you used to put up. I enjoy the random things you come up with as well. I'm not a true follower of any other show besides The L Word so I can't really suggest another TV show blog. But what about a movie blog? I don't know if you are much of a movie watcher but that might be a cool thing to do if you are. It could be in theatre movies, new releases, old classics, whatever. Just some thoughts. I know whatever you do will be great! If only Chaiken had taken your advice. :)
I thought I would be crying the entire time just because it was the last episode but I bored instead. I did enjoy that Tina and Bette were still together and making a transition in their lives. One thing that bothered me was that there was no mention really of Marcy and the possibility of them seeking another child from someone else.
ReplyDeleteThe Helena and Dylan fiasco was really exhausting. I see your point about Dylan needing to earn her trust but in the her defense Helena shouldn't have allowed love back into her life if she truly wasn't ready to start over.

Nikki's reason for hiding in the bushes was really bogus for me. If she was only going to have a talk with Jenny then why not just ring the doorbell and ask for her? The season did revolve around Jenny which was really unecessary since her death only occurred during the last 2 minutes of the show. The credits were really awkward because I didn't know they were credits at firt so I was thinking why are they smiling? Why are they walking like they are on a runway? Then I saw Jenny and got the clue that it was wrapping up. I was really underwhelmed by this and don't plan on watching The Farm. Not even for Alice, but I did read somewhere that Chaikken was trying to do an L Word movie is that true?

Fame: Ahhh so you've heard the movie rumor?! So here's the scoop on that, Chaiken during one of the many interviews she was doing prior to the start of season 6 stated that she wanted to do a movie but that there were no plans for it in the works. She then proceeded to tell all fans to start a petition or write if they really wanted it. This prompted SEVERAL petitions to sprout online but obviously they really had no effect. Honestly, I don't think a movie studio would touch the subject matter anyway. While L Word was a great 'risk taking' show for Showtime, a major network studio wouldn't want it because it'd be hard to get people outside of the fanbase to jump on for the ride with the characters and their stories.
